Music

No show tonight, since Jim and I will both be at the Built to Spill concert. Hopefully that’s a good enough excuse for you. We’ll be back next week.
Mexico City’s Lorelle Meets the Obsolete chill out a bit in comparison to their last full length, meaning “Vocablo No. 1” falls more into the blissed out side of the psych spectrum. “Vocablo” is the band’s contribution to a split 7″ with Cloudland Canyon, who are equally worth your time.

Well, it took a decade, but Charlotte Marionneau is finally releasing a follow up to her debut as Le Volume Courbe. “Rusty” (no relation to the Rodan album, I can only assume) features production from My Bloody Valentine’s own Kevin Shields, who also contributes vocals and instrumentation to the record.

I wanted to share this one last week, but YACHT premiered it on a website that would only stream the song when Uber surge pricing was in effect in Los Angeles. Oh, these kooky kids and their gimmicks… Luckily, the band has now provided a lyric video that you can watch whenever you feel like it, rush hour or not.

I know i’m not writing much these days. Life does what it does. Anyhow, Heaven’s Gate has a new album though and it’s good. Check out this track.

How do you know you’re on a artistic hot streak? When you can release an entire album of cat samples and still be considered a critical darling. Run the Jewels took their victory lap to Colbert’s Late Show last week, with a little help from their friends in TV on the Radio.
It’s Sunday, so you know the drill by now: the radio show is on tonight, 9PM til midnight. Stream it live over at www.wrct.org.
