All posts for the month September, 2014

Mecca Normal has been remarkably consistent over the years.  I played a track from their new album back in July.  Well, here is another one.  And you know, enjoy it, and buy the new record, because if you have musical taste, you won’t regret it.  I know, big caveat.  But at least it’s completely objectively measurable.

This song has me mesmerized.  I’ve listened four times straight.  I don’t know Sea Haven well, and i’ve only listened to 3 songs on this lp, but two are very good.  Take that for what it’s worth. Also, it’s a good song title I think.  Don’t you agree?

Saint Seneca has that introspective thing down pat.

This is one of those excuse posts.  I wanted to post this live video of Saint Seneca performing for an NPR Tiny Desk Concert, which is apparently a thing.

I posted an Air Waves song a couple of weeks back.  With it, I posted a pretty good cover of Air Waves by Naked Hearts.  I’ve been intending, ever since, to post some original Naked Hearts.  So here it is.

Ovlov have done us the favor of making it simple to find their most epic tracks by naming them all “The Great” something or other. This one settles into a nice groove, and then things start to get crazy around three minutes. It’s off a split the band did with Ex-Breathers, Woozy, and Gnarwhal, out November 18th on Community Records.

This entire EP is an extended take on the closing track of Woodsman’s self-titled LP that was released earlier this year, and the whole thing shimmers and slowly morphs over it’s half hour run time. I suspect this is good driving music, a theory I’m sure I’ll test quite soon.

I was looking at a list of lesser known bands playing Riot Fest Chicago.  I like several but this is probably the only one on the list that really stuck out to me.  I also seem to have lost the list or i’d link it.  Sorry whomever wrote that article.  I’m sure you are wonderful and deserve the link.

Oh, and hey look, this was just in my twitter feed this morning,  A new song from Pity Sex.  I can’t seem to get an embeddable version of that.
